Ninewells Hospital, Dundee

In partnership with NHS Tayside, Indigo launched the UK’s first hospital mobility scheme – the winner of two British Parking Awards and a European Parking Award. This scheme has taken the proven concept of shop mobility and adapted it to meet the needs of all disabled visitors in the specialised hospital sector.

The purpose built and designed Mobility Office in the hospital’s ‘blue badge holder only’ car park offers free use of a fleet of electric scooters and wheelchairs. The scheme has been totally funded by the introduction of charging for disabled spaces. with the balance of revenue received being used to provide free parking for patients receiving long term care.

This operation also includes a comprehensive cash collection service, CCTV monitoring which is carried out within the Parking Shop located inside the multi-storey car park, hospital mobility and a free courtesy bus service, with customer care as a priority.
